Buffalo Island Central completed a perfect week of softball with an 11-9 victory Friday afternoon at Rector. The Lady Mustangs scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for the win.
The Lady Mustangs began the week with a 9-5 victory over Marked Tree. Marroquin struck out 12 Lady Indians en route to the victory. The senior right-hander allowed just four hits and helped her own cause, belting a two-run homer in the first inning.
Jenna Pike also had a pair of hits for BIC while Hannah Ghant led Marked Tree with a pair of singles. Ghant picked up the loss on the mound for the Lady Indians.
Marroquin fired a no-hitter in the opener to gain the victory for BIC. Marroquin, Jenna Pike, Brittany Fowler, Jodiee Clay and Aerial Fry all had two hits apiece to lead the Lady Mustangs offensively.
Marroquin also picked up the win in the nightcap, allowing only two hits while striking out 10 Lady Rebels. The senior also led the Mustangs at the plate, going 2-4 with three RBIs. Connor Berry also had two hits with an RBI.
Michelle Cobb had Riverside's only two hits on the day.
BIC returns to the field Monday afternoon hosting Rector in a twin-bill at Monette. The Lady Mustangs will travel to Bay Tuesday afternoon for another doubleheader.
