Lady Lions use big inning to defeat Corning

Kimberly Wise fired a three-hit shutout to lead the Lady Lions to a 10-0 whitewash over Tuckerman in 3A-3 conference play Tuesday afternoon at Manila.

Wise pitched five innings, striking out nine Lady Bulldogs while issuing just three walks. Wise, Katie Donner and Kristen Painter all had two hits apiece.

Manila came back Thursday afternoon to post a 9-1 victory over Corning. The Lady Lions used a seven run seventh to break open a close game, improving to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in 3A-3 conference action.

Kimberly Wise improved to 7-2 on the year to pick up the win. The senior right-hander pitched all seven innings, striking out four while allowing no earned runs on just five hits.

Wise also had a pair of hits and three RBIs while stealing a base. Katie Donner went 2-3 at the plate with a stolen base while Jonna Dodd also was 2-3 with an RBI. Kristen Wise had a pair of hits while Leigha Woody added a single.
