Leachville Troop 42 attends camporee
Troop 42 of Leachville, participated in the Cherokee District camporee that was conducted on the grounds of Camp Cedar Valley near Viola on March 26-28. The scouts spent Saturday morning and afternoon in team and individual competitions. Troop 42's two teams had some victories. One was in the human wheel barrow event.
The biggest disappointments were in the javelin throw, volley ball and tug-o-war.
ASM Mark Cloninger successfully represented the scoutmasters of troop 42, by taking second overall in a separate competition.
1st class Eric Navarro, won second place in a field of more than 130 contestants in the shuttle run event. Navarro recieved a prize in the form of a a new, scout,outdoor activity shirt.
Tenderfoot scouts Lyndon Costillo and Azim Bakeev earned the field portion of their cooking merit badges.
Senior Patrol Leader, Shannon Sparkman and Tenderfoot Hunter Smith won special Boy Scout warm up blankets for their hard work in the camp operations.
1st class Alex Hatcher earned a scout, "star-map" neckerchief for his contributions in the competitive teams.
Overall, the troop won three streamers to add to their substantial collection of ribbons recognizing troop 42's accomplishments over many years.
Several troop members will be attending summer camp.
