Robin Baugher named high school principal

Following a lengthy executive session, members of the Manila School board voted unanimously on several teacher transfers and renewed certified contracts at the March 18 meeting.

The board approved the recommendation of Superintendent Pam Castor to transfer Robin Baugher from assistant elementary principal to high school principal. Baugher will be filling the position of Pam Chipman. Chipman informed the board of her retirement plans during the February meeting.

In a second transfer, the board voted 7-0 to transfer Rodney Cooper, elementary choir director, to high school choir director. In a third transfer, the board approved Castor's recommendation to transfer Dwight Booth, high school history teacher, to the agri position.

The board voted unanimously on a list of certified personnel contracts for the 2010-11 school year.

The board accepted the resignation of Kathy Borden, custodian.

All board members were present for the meeting. Board members are Tony Crowell, president; Tracey Reinhart, vice president; Danny Robbins, secretary; Steve Metheny, Brandon Veach, Johnny McCain, and Jackie Hill.

*In other business, the board adopted one of three calendar options presented for the 2010-11 school year.

*Castor distributed copies of model policies for the board to review for the next meeting. She said there are minimal changes.

*The board approved two early graduation requests from Chelsey Carter and Savannah Towell, providing they meet all the state requirements.

*Castor informed the board they will meet with the NCA representatives the week after spring break. There will be a meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday for a presentation.

*Board member Tony Crowell reminded board members of the upcoming Benchmark Bash at 1 p.m. on April 8 for elementary students.

*There will be a mock wreck sponsored by the Manila Police and Manila Fire Departments at 12:50 p.m. April 2.

*The board reviewed and approved the financial report.
