Ruth F. Hillhouse

Ruth F. Hillhouse, 78, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born July 11, 1931, in Black Oak to the late Charlie and Lena Fletcher. Mrs. Hillhouse retired from Basler Electric where she worked in quality control and also worked for Home Instead as a caregiver. She was a member of the Caraway Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Sandra Coffey Gurley and Joe of Marion and Brenda Newsom Carter and Ricky of Benton, Miss; three sisters, Bonnie McCord of Caraway, Melida Daugherty of Monahans, Texas, and Marie Medsker of Searcy; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a husband, Everett Hillhouse; a son, Steve Newsom; a brother, Billy Fletcher, and a grandson, Brandon Fugate.

A celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Caraway. Burial was in Caraway Cemetery.

Visitation was 5:30-8 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at the Gregg Funeral Home in Caraway.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Lloyd Lamb, Gale Yates, Jeremy Williams, Dane McCord, Joe Gurley and Johnny McCord.
