BIC senior athletes honored
Senior basketball players and cheerleaders, along with their parents, were recognized on Tuesday, Feb. 2, during the last Buffalo Island Central home game of the 2009-10 season.
Emcee Eddie Dunigan recognized the players and their parents expressing his appreciation for all their dedication and hard work.
All of the players and cheerleaders shared their memories of being part of the team in a keepsake brochure honoring the athletes and parents. Most all agreed their saddest memory will be when they wear the Mustang uniform for the last time.
"We appreciate your spirit, your sportsmanship, and your competitiveness throughout the years," Dunigan said. "We wish you the best."
Senior girls basketball players include Whitlee Rolland, Jamie Harris, Ashley Jines, Shelby Qualls, Shelley Greer and Holly Dempsey.
Whitlee Rolland, daughter of Scotty Rolland and Alesha Morgan, has played basketball for six years and also served as cheerleader for two years.
Jamie Harris, daughter of Phyllis Turnbow and Wayne Harris, has played basketball for five years.
Ashley Jines, daughter of Lisa Emison and Wendall Jines, has been on the Lady Mustang basketball team for five years.
Shelby Qualls, daughter of Kenny and Loretta Qualls, has played basketball for six years.
Shelley Greer, daughter of Claude and Peggy Greer, has served as basketball statistician/manager for five years.
Holly Dempsey, daughter of Kim Cater and Ed Dempsey, has played basketball for six years.
Senior boys basketball players are Brandon Atkeison, Heath Hawkins, Adrian Mondragon, and Joshua Freeman.
Brandon Atkeison, son of Brad Atkeison and Carmen Perez, has played basketball for six years.
Heath Hawkins, son of Cole and Kerin Hawkins, has played for the Mustangs for six years.
Adrian Mondragon, son of Soyla and Dean Adams, has played basketball for five years.
Joshua Freeman, son of Lynette Dunlap Estes and Gordon Freeman, has played basketball for five years.
Senior cheerleaders are Whitlee Rolland, Mallory Crites, Kaley Poe and Lindsay Rice.
Mallory Crites, daughter of Bryan and Karen Crites, has been a Mustang cheerleader for six years.
Kaley Poe, daughter of Tracy and Dana Poe, has been a cheerleader for six years.
Lindsay Rice, daughter of Rex and Shirley Rice, has been cheerleading for six years.
