Lady Lions split pair of conference games
Manila split a pair of 3A-3 conference contests last week, defeating Piggott 65-41 Thursday night at Piggott before dropping a tough 62-58 decision Saturday night to Rivercrest at home.
The Lady Lions drilled 12 three pointers in their 24 point victory at Piggott. Kimberly Wise drilled four treys en route to a 20 point performance to lead Manila in scoring. Maegan Presson added 15 more while draining three triples on the night. Carla Kemp also hit double digits scoring 10 points. Kristen Painter scored eight, Tiffany Pentecost tallied six while Savannah Jones pitched in four points.
Manila led 16-6 after the first quarter and held a 33-17 halftime advantage. The Lady Lions took a 54-28 lead into the fourth period.
Aleta Cannon pumped in a game high 27 points to lead Rivercrest over Manila Saturday night. The Lady Colts took a 15-12 lead after the first period and went into the dressing room with a 33-25 advantage. Manila rallied to close the gap to 44-40 entering the final frame.
Kimberly Wise led Manila with 23 points while Tiffany Pentecost and Maegan Presson also hit double digits scoring 12 and 11 points respectively. Kristen Painter tallied seven, Carla Kemp scored three while Katie Donner added two points.
In junior high action, Manila drilled Piggott 46-20. Taylor Teague led the Lions with 15 points while Devon Burrow poured in 12 more. Morgan Earnest scored nine, Kirsten Adcock tallied five, Shelby Wallace netted three while Kailin Shelton pitched in two points.
The senior Lady Lions resume action hosting Riverside Monday night before closing the regular season at Rector on Thursday in a pair of non-conference games.
The junior Lady Lions begin 3A-3 district tournament play Monday night.
