Buffalo Island Central finished the 2A-3 conference season taking two of three games last week to complete an 8-6 league mark.
The Mustangs began the week with a 58-44 victory over Cross County Tuesday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex before rolling past Marked Tree 63-50 Wednesday night on the road. BIC lost a heartbreaking 38-37 decision Friday night at Rector.
The Mustangs placed three players in double figures in their 14 point win over Cross County, led by Adrian Mondragon's 12 points. Heath Hawkins and Daniel Davis followed closely behind, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.
Brandon Atkeison pumped in 19 points while Ben Cole poured in 16 more in BIC's win at Marked Tree on Wednesday.
Ben Cole scored 14 points while Daniel Davis added 11 in BIC's one point loss at Rector Friday night. Brandon Stevens, who led Rector with a game high 17 points, blocked a Mustang shot in the closing seconds to preserve the Cougar victory.
BIC dropped to 12-15 overall while Rector improved to 10-12 and 7-7 in conference play.
In junior boys action, BIC hammered Cross County 48-10 and dropped a 44-31 decision to Rector.
The Lady Mustangs ripped off three consecutive conference wins last week to improve to 12-2 in 2A-3 conference action.
BIC (22-8) began the week by drubbing Cross County 60-22 Tuesday night at Monette. Shelby Qualls led the Lady Mustangs with 14 points while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out five assists. Whitlee Rolland added nine points and six boards while Taylor Owens pulled down a team high 11 rebounds.
Freshman Brittany Fowler pulled off a double-double, scoring 18 points while dishing out 15 assists in BIC's 67-41 victory Wednesday night at Marked Tree. Amelia Stacy led the Lady Indians scoring 18 points. BIC held a slim 27-26 lead at the half before outscoring Marked Tree 21-7 in the third period to take a comfortable 48-33 advantage into the final quarter.
The Lady Mustangs completed the week with a 62-43 pounding of Rector Thursday night on the road.
In junior girls action, the Lady Mustangs improved to 18-5 overall with a 37-19 victory at Rector Thursday night.
Katelyn Sparkman scored 12 points while Emily Owens pitched in 10 more in BIC's 40-39 escape Wednesday night at Marked Tree.
The BIC junior girls and boys teams will begin District Tournament play next week at Marked Tree.
