Jinks R. Smith, 71, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Monette to Leroy and Mrytle Cornish Smith. He retired from Darling Store Fixtures after 35 years and was a member of the Monette Baptist Church. Jinks served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a member of Monette Masonic Lodge #558 and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Smith of Leachville; daughter and husband, Terri and Danny Pollard of Memphis; a grandson, Dillon Pollard; mother, Myrtle Smith of Monette; four sisters, JoAnn Boyd of Manila, Mittie Jackson of Marion, Sondra Branscum of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Donna Driver of Harrisburg; two brothers, Tommy Smith of Osceola and Terry Smith of Manila.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys Smith, his father, Leroy Smith, and a brother, Jesse Smith.
A celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jim Branscum officiating. Burial was private in the Monette Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday from noon until time of service at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
