Charlene Kimbrell, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Leachville to the late Charles and Beatrice Brown. She was a hairdresser and a homemaker and she shared farming with her loving husband J.L., who passed in 1997. She was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church and also had her Caraway First Baptist Church family. Mrs. Charlene enjoyed going out with her friends, but her greatest joy was her family especially her grandson, Kris.

Survivors include her daughter, Kim Kelton; a grandson, Kristopher Kelton both of Caraway; a brother and his wife, Larry and Joyce Brown of Leachville; two nephews, Larry O. Brown of Manila and Brent Johnston of Paragould; two nieces, Lisa Green of Steele, Mo., and Julie Whitney of Paragould; a brother-in-law, Dale Johnston of Paragould and her caregiver, June Overman of Caraway.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Kimbrell; her son-in-law, Donnie Kelton, and a sister, Judy Johnston.

A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Stevens and Rev. Gary Gipson officiating. Burial was at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Visitation was Saturday, Jan. 23, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the Monette First Baptist Church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Bob Blankenship, David Harrell, Ken Lomax, Kevin Wimberley, Terry Spikes, Brent Johnston and Larry Brown and as honorary pallbearers, John Starnes, Troy Case, Buster Campbell, Danny Dunigan and Dr. Dennis Parten.

The family requests memorials to be sent to the Monette First Baptist Church, the Caraway First Baptist Church or Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.
