Ms. Cardin is 75 years young and has worked at several careers including caregiver, waitress, banking, and working in a college computer lab.
"This is my first time in retail and it is the first time I have owned my own business," she said.
Once she decided to open a consignment shop, she made a trip to the St. Louis area where she has a lot of family and friends. She came home with her car filled with clothing, purses, and shoes to help get her new business started.
Ms. Cardin is now looking for consigners. She will consign for 50/50 and will pay on Mondays each week.
She is making plans for the future but now has mostly clothes and shoes for all members of the family and a large variety of purses.
Spring and summer clothes will be put out the middle of February and there is a good selection of winter clothes out now.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. six days a week.
"Once I get going and see how things go I do plan on closing at least one and maybe two days a week," she said. "Now I am working to get everything going. I have always enjoyed working in the public and I invite anyone to stop by, browse, and bring in their clothes to be consigned."
