Lady Lions complete three game sweep

Manila rolled through the 3A-3 conference last week, racking up three home victories to improve to 8-3 in league play.

The Lady Lions, now 13-5 overall, began the week with a hard fought 55-52 victory over Earle. Manila completed the sweep by blasting Harrisburg 46-27 before ending the week with a 60-34 thumping of Brookland.

Manila placed three players in double figures in its win over Earle, led by Carla Kemp's 20 point performance. Kimberly Wise pumped in 14 points while Kristen Painter added 13 more. Courtney Craine contributed four points while Tiffany Pentecost and Katie Donner added three and one point respectively.

Manila jumped to a 12-7 lead after the first period and extended their advantage to 35-21 at halftime, as Kemp scored 13 second quarter points, including three treys. Earle chipped away in the third quarter to pull within 44-38 entering the final period. The Lady Lions put the game away by hitting five of six free throws in the final minutes to hold on for the win.

Salena Sanders and Breanna Gillion led Earle with 15 and 10 points respectively.

Kimberly Wise poured in 18 points, including 16 in the first half, in Manila's victory over Harrisburg Tuesday night. Courtney Craine also hit double digits, scoring 10 points. Carla Kemp chipped in six, Kristen Painter tallied five, Peyton Joyner scored three while Katie Donner and Maegan Presson added two points apiece.

Manila took a 19-12 lead after the first period and held a 28-16 at halftime. Manila's stingy defense held Harrisburg to only two third quarter points as the Lady Lions entered the fourth period with a commanding 35-18 lead.

Kimberly Wise and Carla Kemp propelled Manila past Brookland Thursday night, scoring 16 and 13 points respectively. Manila led 14-4 after the first quarter and stretched their lead to 37-20 at the half. The Lady Lions entered the final frame with a 56-28 lead.

Kristen Painter and Courtney Craine added nine points apiece while Maegan Presson scored four. Peyton Joyner chipped in three points while Savannah Jones, Jonna Dodd and Taylor Craig added two points each.

The junior Lady Lions also swept through conference play, squeezing past Earle 39-37 before defeating Harrisburg 47-28 and Brookland 50-45.

Morgan Earnest drained three treys en route to an 11 point performance to pace Manila in its victory over the Lady Bulldogs Monday night. Devon Burrow scored six points while Shelby Wallace, Taylor Bishop and Taylor Teague all added five points apiece. Charlie Smith and Kristen Wise rounded out the Manila offensive attack with four and three points respectively.

Taylor Teague scored 13 points while Devon Burrow added 12 in Manila's victory over Harrisburg Tuesday night. Shelby Wallace contributed seven points, Morgan Earnest and Kirsten Adcock tallied five points apiece while Kailen Shelton finished with three points. Taylor Bishop added two points.

Shelby Wallace and Taylor Bishop scored 14 points apiece while Kirsten Adcock added 10 in the Lady Lion's win against Brookland. Taylor Teague scored five, Kristen Wise netted four while Morgan Earnest added three to round out the scoring for Manila.

Brookland placed two players in double digits, led by Kayla Kee, who scored a game high 17 points. Jordan Maynard pumped in 15 more.

Manila will travel to Tuckerman to tangle with the Lady Bulldogs in another 3A-3 conference battle Monday night.
