Edna Jean Farmer, 87, of Lexington, Neb., formerly of Manila, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, in Lexington. She was the widow of George Farmer who passed away in 1983. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late James and Orzona Billingsley Vanzant and had been a lifelong Manila resident until moving to Lexington four years ago. Ms. Farmer was a longtime faithful member of the Manila First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Farmer and his wife Gail of Heber Springs and Robert "Butch" Farmer of Arcadia, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Farmer Burns of Lexington, Neb.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Manila First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family received visitors from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
