Roy Arvel Clowers, 98, of Leachville, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born at Fairbanks, Ark., he was the son of the late Dan and Angie Payne Clowers and had been a Leachville area resident for most of his life. Mr. Clowers was a retired farmer and cotton ginner, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Leird Clowers of the home; four sons, Rick, Clowers and his wife Suk, of Lampe, Mo., Danny Clowers and his wife Tammy of Blytheville, Robert Clowers and his wife Rebecca of Leachville, and Jackie Clowers of Osceola; a brother, Floyd "Pat" Clowers and his wife Billie of Luxora; a sister, Laura Zirale of Bartlett, Tenn.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery.

The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
