Bay jumped to a 23-6 first period lead and went on to a convincing 71-29 victory over Buffalo Island Central Tuesday night at Bay.
Gunner Freeman scored 13 first quarter points, including three treys, as the Yellowjackets built a commanding 32-13 halftime lead. By the end of the third quarter, Bay held a 55-16 advantage as the 'Jackets improved to 16-4 on the season.
Freeman led all scorers with 22 points while Tristan Shelley added 12 to lead the Bay scoring attack.
BIC was led by Ben Cole and Josh McCormick who scored six points apiece. Brandon Lairsey scored four, Adrian Mondragon and Alex Field netted three points each while Josh Freeman, Brent Ray and Daniel Davis added two points apiece. Brandon Atkeison pitched in one point.
In junior high action, Bay came away with a 55-30 win behind Dylan Loven who pumped in a game high 29 points. Zack Johnson chipped in 15 more for the Yellowjackets.
Zack Chase led BIC with 13 points. Jacob Sanders scored five, Dilynn Strickland netted four, Drake Brown and Tyler Boone tallied three points apiece while Nick Bollinger chipped in two.
East Poinsett County defeated BIC 58-24 Friday night at Lepanto. In junior high action, EPC edged the Mustangs 42-38.
Kyle Norris and Alec Ray scored 17 and 12 points respectively to lead Valley View to a 49-32 win over the junior Mustangs in the Raider Shootout Saturday afternoon at Nettleton.
Nick Bollinger led BIC with eight points while Jacob Sanders scored seven. Justin Barnes, Chris Shirley and Hunter Douglas scored four points apiece. Dilynn Strickland had three points while Zack Chase added two.
The senior Mustangs will enter NEA Tournament action Tuesday, Dec. 22, with a 9:00 a.m. tipoff against Brookland.
Bay avenged an early season loss to the Lady Mustangs with a 67-35 win Monday night at Bay. Jordan Ferguson and Trisha Dedman scored 22 and 18 points respectively to lead the Lady Yellowjackets. Chelsey Jones added 12 points.
Brittany Fowler led BIC with 14 points while Jenna Pike scored eight. Jamie Harris and Hayley Parker netted four points apiece, Shelby Qualls scored three while Taylor Owens added two points.
Bay led 24-18 after the first period, 41-26 at the half and built their lead to 58-31 after three quarters.
The Lady Mustangs improved to 11-5 overall and a perfect 3-0 in 2A-3 conference play with a 65-59 victory at East Poinsett County Thursday night.
Brittany Fowler led the Lady Mustangs with 24 points while Jenna Pike pitched in 20 more. BIC rallied from a 37-28 halftime deficit to knot the game at 45-45 after three periods.
Terrika Madden led EPC with 24 points while Whitney Ball added 11.
In junior high action, BIC powered past Bay 44-24 before handing EPC a 39-25 loss to improve to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Cassidy Qualls scored 19 points in BIC's win over Bay to lead the Mustangs in scoring. Rachel Goldammer tallied seven points, Emily Owens netted six, Katelyn Sparkman added five, Brittany Stockton contributed four while Kaylee Greathouse pitched in three points.
Emily Owens recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points while grabbing 11 rebounds in BIC's victory over EPC.
The senior Lady Mustangs will begin NEA Tournament play as the number four seed, Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 6:00 p.m. BIC will play the winner of Monday night's Rector-Marked Tree game.
