Riverside began defense of its 2008 Williams Baptist Tournament championship with a 63-42 victory over Corning November 28th at Walnut Ridge.
Jake Love powered home 22 points while Cole Winford pumped in 17 more to lead the Rebels. Riverside took a 23-13 lead at the first break and held a 33-19 advantage at halftime. The Rebels led 44-30 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Josh Anderson scored eight points, Dewayne Schrader tallied five points, M.J. Brewer and Tyler Rolland pitched in four points apiece while Luke Moyer added two points. Bryan Poe scored one point to round out the Rebel scoring attack.
Riverside dropped a 61-55 decision in the quarterfinals to Hillcrest Tuesday night.
The Rebels were led by Morgan Fletcher who scored 12 points. Sam Elam tallied nine points, Jake Love netted eight, Tyler Rolland contributed six, while Cole Winford chipped in five points. Dewayne Schrader, Josh Anderson and M.J. Brewer scored four points each while Bryan Poe rounded out the scoring with three points.
Riverside will play host to the Gerald Jennings boys tournament beginning Monday night at Caraway. The Rebels will also take on Turrell Friday night in 2A-3 conference play at Lake City.
The Lady Rebels posted a 61-45 quarterfinal victory over Gosnell last week at Manila in the Gerald Jennings Invitational Tournament.
Meagan Goza led Riverside with 20 points while Michelle Cobb and Lauren Weaver scored 17 and 13 points respectively. Kyley Campbell pitched in nine points while Teylor Hill added two points.
The junior Lady Rebels dropped a 37-29 decision in the Gerald Jennings Tournament Tuesday night. Shanice McClain led Gosnell with 22 points.
Emilee Manues topped Riverside with 12 points. Kenzley Wilson scored nine while Susan Sailor, Lindsey Bennett, Anna Brickell and Emily Jordan added two points apiece.
The Lady Rebels will take the court Tuesday night in a non-conference battle at Bay before hosting Turrell Friday night at Lake City in a 2A-3 conference tilt.
