"I am really proud of my team," said Lion Coach John Deaton. "We have had a really good year. This is the third straight year we have gone to the state tournament and I thought we competed well. We played under very tough conditions. Tracey Reinhart really played well in the tournament. We look forward to going back to state next season."
The Lady Lion golf team played Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home, placing 11th in the 3A State Championships. The Lady Lions shot a team total of 398, led by Mikayla Shedd's 118. First year players Taylor Bishop and Brigette Yancey finished with scores of 128 and 152 respectively.
Jessieville took home the state title with a 299 score.
"This was really good experience for us," said Deaton. "Two of our three players were playing their first year of golf and Mikayla is only in her second year. With the experience we picked up, we hope to go back to state next season and finish even higher."
