Suber inducted into Arkansas Housing Hall of Fame
Monette Housing Authority Executive Director Barbara Suber was inducted into the Arkansas chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officers Hall of Fame last month during a state meeting in Eureka Springs.
Suber was recognized because of her outstanding contributions to the housing programs for low-income families, the elderly and handicapped throughout Arkansas.
Under Suber's leadership the Monette facility has earned the status of being a High Performer in 1991. Monette Housing partnered with the City of Monette, Crowley's Ridge Development Council and the Departments of Human Services and Health to build a multi-purpose facility in 1994. This facility received statewide recognition for its outstanding volunteer services to the community in 2002 and helped the city achieve Arkansas Community of Excellence Certification.
Suber has served as MHA director for 29 years and is an avid community volunteer. She currently serves as a Success Mentor to the students at Buffalo Island Central West Elementary and is a charter member of the Monette City Beautification Committee. She is past president of the Arkansas division of NAHRO and has served on many state and national committees.
Barbara and her husband Steve Suber are active members of the Monette First Baptist Church, along with their daughters, Kima Stewart and April Finch, and their families.
