Manila school board fills position
All members of the Manila School board were present at a special called meeting on Thursday evening with only one item on the agenda, filling the position agri teacher left vacant by the death of longtime Manila teacher Dale Poag.
Following a short executive session, Superintendent Pam Castor recommended hiring Jim Thieme for the remainder of the contract term.
Thieme, a Manila resident, is a retired agri teacher, who taught at Gosnell High School.
Board members voted unanimously to hire Thieme to fill the position.
Manila School Board members are President Johnny McCain, Tony Crowell, Tracey Reinhart, Dan Robbins, Steve Metheny, Jackie Hill, and Brandon Veach.
Regular school board meetings are held the third Thursday of each month in the board room of the administration office.
