Mary Della "Granny" Robinson, 64 of Paragould, formerly of Leachville, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born near Manila, she was the daughter of the late William Floyd and Ellen Izona McCloud Sorrells and had been a longtime Leachville area resident before making her home in Paragould.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Doyle Wayne Sorrells, Walter Lee Sorrells,and Russell Sorrells; two sisters, Linda May Finley and Jo Vernell Sorrells.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dewayne and Deborah Newton of Leachville; her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and David Hogan of Paragould; her son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Martha Newton of Hayti; her daughter, Lona Morris of Manila; her son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Lavonda Newton of Manila; her daughter and son-in-law, Leisa and Michael Nettles of Monette; and her son Tony Joe Newton of Leachville, and daughter-in-law Georgia Stacey of Marmaduke. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert Sorrells of Blytheville and Johnny Sorrells of Manila.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Howard Funeral chapel in Leachville with burial in the Manila Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Weatherly, Donald Eric Hogan, Skyler Morris, Clifton Newton, T.J. Newton, John Harvey and Benny Bryant.

The family received visitors Thursday evening from 6-8 at the Howard Funeral Home in Leachville.
