Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Lake City Mayor Billy Anderson gave several updates at the June 15 city council meeting.

He announced the upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Day from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Wayne Short Park. He told the council members their help would be appreciated at the event. It has been set up to present certificates and show appreciation to the workers who helped during the ice storm.

Mayor Anderson said the Bush Street Pumping Station is up and running.

"There will be some updates made when supplies that have been ordered arrive," he said.

Mosquito spraying will begin when the weather fairs up, possibly Wednesday, June 17.

The schedule for spraying will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The city's storm sirens have been installed.

Anderson said Police Chief Winred Saffell is still working with Radio Communications on radio activation. There are some problems to work out in this area.

Plans to sod ball field number 1 are still set for July.

The next city council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of July.
