Daniel Lee Gilvin II (Danny Lee), 39, of O'Fallon, Mo., died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a brave battle with leukemia. Danny Lee was born at Middletown, Ohio, on Aug. 3, 1969, to Daniel and Gayla Gilvin, the former Gayla Ware of Manila. He was raised in Cincinnatti, Ohio, and at Manchester, Ind., where he was graduated from South Dearborn County High School. Afterwards, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at the former Eaker Air Force Base in Gosnell. While stationed there, he attended Calvary Baptist Church in Blytheville. During his military service, he was deployed to Great Britain, Kenya, Somalia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Korea. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm.

In addition to his parents, also of O'Fallon, he is survived by a son, Noah Lee Gilvin of the home; and his maternal grandmother, Pauline Ware, of Manila.

A celebration of his life was held at Stygar Funeral Home in St. Charles, Mo., on June 16. Burial with full military honors followed in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
