Effie Mae Talley, 91, of Manila died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Manila Nursing Center in Manila. Born at Dell, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Rosie Brown Lott and had been a longtime Manila resident. She was the widow of Edwin Talley and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Manila. She worked for many years as a nurses aide and retired from Manila Nursing Center in Manila.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, William Atkinson, and his wife, Mary, of Janesville, Wis.; four daughters, Thelma Morris and her husband, Orville, of Manila, Alice Brown and her husband, Keith, of Wilkesboro, N.C., Joann Rich and her husband, Terry, of Manila, Mavis Feldpausch and her husband, Thomas, of York, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. James Chipman officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons, Gary Morris, Ronnie Morris, David Rich, Michael Morris, Jared Bourland, Kevin Brown, Michael Heiland and James French.

The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
