Services for Michael Joe Lambert were 3 p.m. Tuesday April 28, 2009 at Wadley's Funeral Service under the direction of Wadley's Funeral Service. Lambert was born Aug. 5, 1949, to William and Jessie Ventress in Floydada, Texas. He died April 25, 2009 at the Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 59 years. Michael has lived in Lexington for the past two and a half years coming from Arkansas. He was raised in Floydada, Texas and Slidell, Ark. Michael attended school in New Port Beach, Calif.; Noble, Okla.; and Slidell, La.

On Sept.26, 1966 Michael was inducted into the United States Marines at Jackson, Miss. During his enlistment he received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal W/1, Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/Device, Good Conduct Medal and Combat Action Ribbon. He was honorably discharged June 23, 1974 in New Orleans, Louisiana with the rank of E-5. After his discharge he joined the United States Coast Guard retiring in 1991 as Aviation Electrician 2nd Class. Michael was in Technical Training in the Marines and Field Radio Operator. He attended Aviation Electrician School in the Coast Guard and was with the McClain County Sheriff Office.

He enjoyed sailing, playing the guitar, fire arms and loved to be outdoors camping and hunting. On Aug. 5, 1974 Michael and Gwen Oxner were united in marriage in Railey, N.C.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Jeannine Ventress and many aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife, Gwen of the home; father, William Ventress of Lexington; children, Joshua Lambert and Christy of Lexington, Jesse Lambert and Rebecca of Nashville, Tennessee, Rachel Duvall and Chris of Claremore, Oklahoma and Jennifer Porche and Rob of Houma, Louisiana; grandchildren, Cheri, Ryan, Caley, Malachi, Reiana and set of twins on the way.
