Rebels bow out of District Tournament

Richie Tate's two-rum homer in the bottom of the second inning broke a 1-1 tie as Marked Tree went on to a 9-3 victory over Riverside in the quarter-finals of the 2A-3 District Tournament Saturday morning at Monette.

The Rebels struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning with an RBI single by Josh Driver. The Indians came right back in their half of the first when Josh Dabney plated Michael Gray with an RBI single, tying the game at 1-1.

Tate blasted a two-run homer deep over the left field fence in the bottom of the second, giving the Indians a two run lead.

Marked Tree tacked on three more runs in the third inning, highlighted by Will Johnson's RBI single, as the Indians coasted into the semi-finals while the Rebels saw their season come to an end.

Gray had a pair of singles and scored twice while Dabney added a pair of hits. Tate went the distance to pick up the victory.

Riverside got a double from Cody O'Guinn, who also scored two runs. M.J. Brewer picked up the loss.

The Rebels won their opening round game with a 17-2 victory over Turrell. Cody Stallings picked up the win in the three inning game, allowing just three hits. Stallings also added a pair of base hits and drove in two runners.

Morgan Fletcher, Cam Casey and Tyler Warhurst also added two hits apiece.

Earlier in the week, Riverside defeated Turrell 16-0 while dropping 10-5 and 15-1 decisions to Marmaduke and Rector respectively.

In the Rebel's victory over Turrell, Morgan Fletcher went 3-3 with three runs scored. Jake Love ripped a two-run triple and scored twice, Josh Driver had an RBI single and scored two runs while Cody Stallings lashed a triple. Nick Bagley and Cole Winford also had base hits. Cody O'Guinn got the victory on the mound.

In Riverside's 10-5 loss to Marmaduke, Jake Love and Cody Stallings had two hits apiece with Stallings driving in a pair of runs. Morgan Fletcher had two RBI singles, Tyler Warhurst ripped a triple while Nick Bagley had a two-run double. Cody O'Guinn, Cam Casey and Daniel McCormick all singled. Cam Casey took the loss on the mound.

In the loss to Rector, Love had an RBI single while O'Guinn, Driver and Tyler Rolland also had base hits. Driver pitched two innings, giving up six hits in taking the loss. O'Guinn pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three while giving up two hits and a walk.
