"This is the first book fair held in the new library at the newly constructed middle school," Dawson said. "We are very appreciative of everyone who helped us exceed our goal."
Principal Wagner told her students if they raised $3,000 she would kiss a pig. Coach Milligan agreed to dress as a cheerleader and even do a cartwheel if the students reached their goal.
The book fair raised $3,803.71. Dawson said the library will get $2,200 to purchase new books.
"This was a joint effort of the parents, teachers, students, and community," Dawson said. "I also want to thank Mrs. Wagner and Mr. Milligan for being such good sports."
An assembly was held on Wednesday. Martina, Tony and Sheila Hawkins' pot-bellied pig, did not cooperate in coming inside for the assembly so the teachers and students gathered outside the building to watch and cheer as Ms. Wagner kissed the pig.
