Lady Rebels celebrate Senior Night with victory over Marked Tree
Riverside celebrated senior night with a 68-32 win over Marked Tree in senior girl's basketball action Thursday night at Lake City.
Katey Campbell pumped in five three pointers on her way to a game high 24 points to lead the Lady Rebels, who improved to 19-7 overall and 10-2 in league play.
Riverside jumped to an 11-3 first quarter lead and held a 34-9 advantage at the half. The Lady Rebels raced to a 62-25 lead after three quarters. Holly Dudley and Brianna Driver also hit double digits with 12 and 11 points respectively. Kailey Holt scored seven, Kyley Campbell had six, and Anne-Marie Johnson and Michelle Cobb scored three points a piece, while Taylor Boness added two more to round out the Lady Rebel scoring attack. Riverside finished 8-9 at the foul line and hit ten three pointers on the night.
Amelia Stacey led Marked Tree with 17 points. The Lady Indians finished 12 out of 20 from the foul stripe.
Riverside downed Rector 68-49 Tuesday night behind Campbell's game high 28 point performance. Driver pumped in 14 points, while Dudley added 10 more. Morgan Emery scored six, Michelle Cobb had three, Christy Ward, Taylor Boness and Alyssia Thibodeaux all added two points each. Kailey Holt finished with one point. Riverside made 8 of 12 foul shots and drilled six treys.
In junior high action, Riverside dropped a 38-27 decision to Marked Tree. The Lady Rebels also lost 34-25 on Tuesday night to Rector.
Alyton Perry poured in 22 points to lead Marked Tree past Riverside. Lauren Weaver led Riverside with 17 points, while Anna Brickell added five. Becca Frayer and Emilee Manues added two points a piece while Lindsey Bennett chipped in one. The two teams were tied 4-4 after the first quarter before Marked Tree grabbed an 11-10 halftime lead. The Lady Indians took a 25-20 advantage into the final frame.
Lauren Weaver poured in a game high 21 points in Riverside's Tuesday night loss to Rector. Becca Frayer scored four points for Riverside, who hit 10-16 foul shots. The Lady Rebels held a 7-6 first quarter advantage. The two teams were tied 14-14 at the half, but Rector outscored Riverside 9-0 in the third period to take a 23-14 lead into the final frame.
Riverside will return to action Monday night when they travel to Manila. The Lady Rebels will close out the regular season when they journey to Gosnell to take on the Lady Pirates Thursday night.
