Buffalo Island Central dropped two out of three games in senior girls basketball action last week. The Lady Mustangs began the week with a 75-51 loss at Lepanto to East Poinsett County before bouncing back to whip Cross County 53-22 on Thursday night at Monette. Rector knocked off the Lady Mustangs 64-58 on Friday night in BIC's last home game of the season.
Jordan Madden poured in 30 points to lead EPC past BIC. Kelli Saddler and Carla Kemp added 12 and 10 points respectively for the Lady Warriors.
Senior Jordon Miller led BIC with a team high 26 points. Jenna Pike scored eight, Holly Dempsey had seven, Corie Flannigan tallied four, Jamie Harris and Whitlee Rolland contributed two points apiece while Jenny Walker added one.
Taylor Owens scored 13 points to lead BIC past Cross County. Holly Dempsey tallied nine while Ashley Jines and Shelby Qualls added eight points apiece. Corie Flannigan netted five, Jordon Miller and Kalee James scored three points a piece while Jenny Walker and Jamie Harris added two points each.
Hillary Calhoun scored 22 points as Rector rallied for a 64-58 win over BIC on senior night. Crissy Crawford and Stephanie Dement added 16 and 13 points respectively for the Lady Cougars.
BIC held a 14-10 lead after the first quarter, and held a 29-27 edge at the half. Rector rallied to take a 49-40 lead after three quarters. Jordon Miller paced BIC with 13 points while Jenna Pike added 11 more. Holly Dempsey tallied nine, Taylor Owens and Whitlee Rolland netted seven points apiece, Corie Flannigan chipped in six, Shelby Qualls tallied three while Jenny Walker added two to round out the Lady Mustang scoring attack.
In junior high action, BIC rolled up three victories during the week to improve to 27-1 overall and 12-1 in conference play. The league leading Lady Mustangs began the week with a hard fought 50-46 victory over EPC.
Demi Hargrove scored 21 points while Brittany Fowler added 12 more to spark BIC past the Lady Warriors. Kaylee Greathouse and Cassidy Qualls added eight points apiece while Emily Owens contributed one point.
Brittany Ball scored 17 points while Terrika Madden added 12 more to pace EPC.
BIC placed 10 players in the scoring column in their win over Cross County. Demi Hargrove, Brittany Fowler and Amber Rolland led the Lady Mustangs with six points each. Cassidy Qualls had five, Rachel Goldammer netted four while Jodiee Clay, Shania Junyor, and Emily Owens tallied two points apiece. Katelyn Sparkman added one point. BIC led 15-0 after the first period, and held a 29-0 bulge at the half. The Lady Mustangs took a 34-2 lead into the final frame.
Hargrove and Fowler scored 12 and 11 points respectively to lead BIC past Rector. Greathouse had seven, Owens netted four, while Goldammer, Qualls and Hayley Parker pitched in two points each.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Bay before closing the week with a road trip to Brookland on Thursday night.
