Wise leads Lady Lions past Rivercrest

Kimberly Wise drilled 16-18 free throws, including nine of 10 in the decisive fourth quarter, to lead Manila to a 61-56 victory over Rivercrest Tuesday night at Wilson.

Wise, who led the Lady Lions with a game high 34 points, also got double digit help from Tiffany Pentecost who scored 12 points, all on three pointers, while Rebekah White added 11 more. Colleen Kemp finished the night with four points. Manila hit 21-23 free throws as a team and drilled six treys on the night.

Aleta Cannon led Rivercrest with 24 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady Colts hit 14-22 foul shots.

Manila led 15-8 after the first period but saw Rivercrest tie the score 26-26 by halftime. The two teams went into the final frame tied at 36.

Sierra Scheffler scored 15 points as Corning defeated Manila 61-46 Friday night. Whitney Groning scored 14 while Lindsey George and Felicia Woodard added 12 and 11 points respectively as the Lady Bobcats placed four players in double digits.

Kimberly Wise led Manila with 13 points while Kristen Painter and Tiffany Pentecost added nine points apiece. Colleen Kemp tallied six, Rebekah White netted four, Savannah Jones added two while Katie Donner contributed one point to round out the Lady Lion attack. Manila led 11-10 after the opening quarter but watched Corning rally for a 33-20 halftime lead. The Lady Bobcats led 41-31 after three quarters.

In junior high action, Rivercrest rolled to a 42-11 victory. Shelby Wallace scored four points to lead Manila while Courtney Craine, Morgan Earnest and Taylor Teague added two points apiece. Kirsten Adcock finished with one point.
