Manila First Baptist members reach out
The Manila First Baptist Church sign read "No Services Sunday" but even though services were not held in the sanctuary, there was service -- service to the community.
Several of the members had been out since Wednesday, Jan. 28, since the ice storm checking on people and cleaning up limbs and debris.
"Since there was no service on Sunday, Jared Russell (youth director) put together some crews and 48 of our people went from house to house cutting trees and picking up brush in the name of Jesus," Pastor Ferrel Duffel said. "We've done about 40 houses so far."
Several workers have been able to continue working throughout the week helping with the clean-up effort in the community.
"I'm proud of my members," Duffel said.
