Rebels split with Marmaduke
Riverside salvaged one out of three league games last week with a 63-55 win over Marmaduke Thursday night at Lake City. Cody O'Guinn led the Rebels with 19 points while Tyler Warhurst added 17 more. Blake Hogan pulled down 12 rebounds.
The Rebels began the week with a 56-52 loss to Turrell at Lake City. Riverside held a 25-19 lead at the half before Turrell overtook the Rebels to claim a 37-35 edge heading into the final quarter. Theo Turner scored 16 points while Terrence Selvy added 11 to lead the Rockets.
Tyler Warhurst paced Riverside with 16 points while Josh Anderson and Jake Love scored 12 and 10 points respectively. Blake Hogan grabbed 10 rebounds for the Rebels.
Riverside finished the week with a 75-71 loss at Marmaduke. The Rebels (13-13, 4-6 2A-3) were led by Cody O'Guinn who pumped in 23 points. Tyler Warhurst poured in 20 more while Blake Hogan added 13. Riverside held a 21-17 lead after the first period and took a 35-30 advantage into the dressing room at the half. Marmaduke exploded in the third period, outscoring Riverside 28-10 to take a 58-45 lead into the final frame.
The Greyhounds placed four players in double digits, led by Dexter Jordan who scored 20 points. Jacob Mason scored 16, Jacob Nolen tallied 15 while Tyler Nailling pitched in 12 more.
In junior high action, Riverside lost to Turrell 66-57 Tuesday night. The Rebels rebounded with a 58-38 victory over Marmaduke Thursday night at Lake City behind Cole Winford, who poured in 27 points while snaring 10 rebounds.
Marmaduke gained revenge Friday night with a 50-42 victory over the Rebels.
Riverside will return to action Tuesday night with a 2A-3 conference tilt against Marked Tree at Caraway. The Rebels will close out the week hosting East Poinsett County in another conference battle Friday night at Caraway.
