Buffalo Island Central picked up a pair of victories in senior girls basketball action last week, defeating Harrisburg 56-40 before taking a 66-57 win over Turrell. The Lady Mustangs began the week with a 66-59 loss to Marmaduke in 2A-3 conference action.
Jenna Pike pumped in 16 points while Jordan Miller added 14 more in BIC's non-conference win at Harrisburg. Shelby Qualls scored nine points, Whitlee Rolland netted five, Holly Dempsey and Corie Flannigan chipped in four points apiece while Kaylee James and Taylor Owens added two points each to round out the Mustang scoring. BIC hit 9-15 free throws and drained seven treys on the night. BIC led 11-9 after the first quarter, 28-13 at the half and 41-23 after three periods.
In Friday night's 2A-3 conference win at Turrell, Jordan Miller and Corie Flannigan combined for 43 points. Miller pumped in 23 while Flannigan poured in 20 more to lead the Lady Mustang attack. Jenna Pike scored nine, Holly Dempsey had eight, Whitlee Rolland netted four while Jamie Harris pitched in two points for the Lady Mustangs, who hit 20-23 free throws while drilling two three pointers. BIC took an 18-6 lead after the first period and increased their margin to 40-24 at halftime. The Lady Mustangs held a 54-37 advantage entering the fourth quarter.
Chelsea Drope scored a game high 28 points to lead Marmaduke past BIC Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex. Rachel Morton added 12 more for the Lady Greyhounds, who helped themselves by nailing 31-37 free throw attempts. Marmaduke made five three pointers. The Greyhounds held a 20-15 first period advantage and entered the dressing room with a 31-25 lead. Marmaduke led 50-42 after three quarters.
Jordan Miller led three Lady Mustangs in double figures with 16 points. Holly Dempsey scored 14 while Jenna Pike added 11 more. Shelby Qualls scored nine, Corie Flannigan netted six, Ashley Jines tallied two while Whitlee Rolland added one point for the Lady Mustangs, who hit 11-22 from the foul stripe. BIC hit two three pointers on the night.
In junior high action, BIC improved their season record to 23-1 overall and 8-1 in league play, sweeping all three games last week. The Lady Mustangs began the week with a 51-39 victory over Marmaduke, followed by a 44-26 win against Harrisburg before ending the week by rolling over Turrell 52-31.
Brittany Fowler led BIC with 14 points while Cassidy Qualls added 13 more in BIC's win over Marmaduke. Demi Hargrove scored nine points, Kaylee Greathouse netted five, Hayley Parker and Amber Rolland netted four points apiece while Emily Owens chipped in two.

Demi Hargrove netted eight, Emily Owens and Amber Rolland tallied five points apiece, Brittany Fowler and Katelyn Sparkman contributed four points each, while Kaylee Greathouse added three. Brittany Stockton added two points to round out the Lady Mustang scoring.

Brittany Stockton scored seven, Amber Rolland tallied five, Demi Hargrove, Hayley Parker and Rachel Goldammer chipped in four points apiece while Katelyn Sparkman added two. Ashley Birdno and Jodiee Clay added one point apiece.
BIC will return to action when they travel to Lepanto Monday night to take on East Poinsett County in 2A-3 conference play. The Lady Mustangs will close out the week Friday night with a road trip to Marked Tree in another league battle.
