Rector outscored Buffalo Island Central 26-23 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 64-61 win over the Lady Mustangs Monday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex.
Chrissy Crawford pumped in 17 points while Stephanie Dement drilled five three pointers to add 15 more to lead the Lady Cougars. Hillary Calhoun pitched in 14 points for Rector, who hit 17-32 free throws while draining seven treys.
Holly Dempsey scored a game high 22 points to lead BIC, who also got a double-double from Jordan Miller, who scored 14 points and grabbed 11 boards. Jenna Pike also scored 14 for the Lady Mustangs. Taylor Owens netted eight, Jamie Harris tallied two while Corie Flannigan added one point for BIC, who finished the night 15-20 from the foul line. The Lady Mustangs connected on two three pointers.
Rector held a 17-10 first period advantage and a 28-23 halftime edge. BIC rallied in the third quarter, outscoring Rector 15-10 to knot the score at 38-38 heading into the final frame.
In junior high action, BIC got past Rector 41-28. Demi Hargrove and Brittany Fowler led the Lady Mustangs with 12 points apiece. Cassidy Qualls scored eight, Hayley Parker and Kaylee Greathouse tallied three each, Emily Owens contributed two while Rachel Goldammer pitched in one point.
Allison Duncan led Rector with 13 points. BIC held a 12-2 first period lead and went to the dressing room ahead 17-11. The Lady Mustangs owned a 29-19 advantage after three quarters.
