Harrisburg's Olga Diaz drained a three pointer at the buzzer as the Lady Hornets shocked Manila 41-39 in 3A-3 conference basketball action Thursday night at Harrisburg.
The Lady Hornets trailed Manila 39-38 with 40 seconds remaining and held for the last shot. With the clock winding down, Diaz worked herself open and drilled the game winner as the horn sounded.
Diaz finished with a team high 13 points while teammate Samantha Gravette added 10 more. The Lady Hornets drilled six treys on the night, including Diaz's game winner. Harrisburg finished 5-7 from the foul line.
Kimberly Wise led all scorers with 18 points, despite Harrisburg's triangle and two defense. Colleen Kemp netted eight points, Savannah Jones scored five, Kristen Painter tallied four while Katie Donner and Johnna Dodd added two points apiece to round out the Lady Lion offensive output.
Harrisburg led 13-11 after the opening quarter, but Manila rallied for a 20-18 halftime lead. The Lady Lions took a 33-29 lead into the fourth quarter before Harrisburg's game winning rally.
In junior high action, Harrisburg captured a 34-22 win behind Taylor Lattimore's 16 points. The Lady Hornets led 11-7 after the first period, 16-11 at the half and increased their margin to 30-16 heading into the final frame.
Taylor Bishop led Manila with six points while Courtney Craine added five. Morgan Earnest scored four, Kristen Wise tallied three while Devon Burrow and Taylor Teague added two points each.
Manila will return to the hard court Monday night when they host Earle in 3A-3 conference play. The Lady Lions will travel to Campbell, Mo., for a non-conference bout Tuesday before closing the week with a conference tilt at Brookland Thursday night.
