Clell Castleman

Clell Castleman, 88, of Manila, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at his home. Born at Bay, he was the son of the late J.E. and Inez Behmy Castleman and had lived most of his life in Manila. He spent 20 years in Michigan and retired from General Motors. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served many years on the Manila Cemetery Association Board, was a member of the Manila Lions Club and the American Legion Herman Davis Post 197. He had been a member of the Westside Baptist Church since 1975.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Della Williams Castleman; a stepson, James Carroll Hill; and three brothers.

He is survived by two brothers, Ell Castleman of Moore, Okla., and Gaylon Castleman of California.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Troy Fisher officiating. Burial was in Manila Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Fields, Gene Dobbins, Charles Quinn, Lonnie Wright, Sonny Ashley, and Bob Farmer. The family received visitors from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
