Friday, January 2, 2009

Lake City council approved Ordinance 234-08, amending the 2008 budget ordinance, at the Dec. 22 meeting.

Council members present were Doug Stone, Tommy Eakins, Mark Mann, Jon Milligan, Kenneth Winford and Harold Barker.

Mayor Billy Anderson asked the council for any questions or comments on the financial statement before it was approved.

The council discussed a proposal provided by Gregg Fender with Local Government Services and agreed to table a decision until the city could gather more information.

Mayor Anderson informed the council the work on Bush Street pumping station had begun. Mayor Anderson also told the council the city had been awarded a $24,000 GIF-1 Grant. The funds will be used to purchase a wood chipper.

A discussion was held and passed to make changes in the employment policy as it now stands. The changes will be in the mosquito control and part-time cleaning position. The changes will become effective Jan. 1. Mayor Anderson said he will look for part-time employees for these positions.

The 2009 budget was accepted.
