Riverside's Lady Rebels split a pair of non-conference games last week, losing to Gosnell 55-43 Tuesday night at Caraway before coming back Thursday night to take a 59-33 win over Crowley's Ridge Academy at Paragould.
Gosnell placed four of their five starters in double figures, and rallied from a 28-22 halftime deficit to upset the Lady Rebels. Candace Miller led the Lady Pirates with 18 points while teammate Brooke Godsey added 12. Jasmine Vaughn and Eureka Sing added 10 points apiece. The Lady Pirates hit 10-19 from the foul line and made three treys on the night.
Katey Campbell pumped in 12 of her team high 18 points in the second quarter to lead the Lady Rebels, while Michelle Cobb scored 15 more, ten in the opening period. Kyley Campbell scored five, Brianna Driver had four while Kailey Holt added one. The Lady Rebels hit 11-14 free throws and drained three treys.
The game was tied 11-11 after the first quarter before Riverside took a six point lead at the half. Gosnell bounced back to take a 37-34 lead into the final quarter and held on for the victory.
Riverside bounced back with an easy 59-33 win over the Lady Falcons Thursday night. Brianna Driver paced the Rebels with 14 points while Katey Campbell pitched in 10. Morgan Emery scored nine, Anne Marie Johnson tallied eight while Ashley Calvert and Michelle Cobb added four points apiece. Kailey Holt and Kyley Campbell scored three points apiece while Holly Dudley and Taylor Boness chipped in two points apiece. Riverside hit 11-19 free throws on the night.
Treka Freer led CRA with 11 points. CRA hit 11-23 free throws and nailed four treys on the night.
In junior high action, Riverside dropped a 28-27 heartbreaker to Gosnell. Riverside was led by Lauren Weaver and Lindsey Bennett, who scored eight points apiece. Becca Frayer tallied seven while Emilee Manues added four more.
The Lady Rebels picked up a 23-17 victory Thursday night over CRA behind Lauren Weaver's 12 points. Becca Frayer scored four points while Teylor Hill, Kenzley Wilson and Lindsey Bennett added two points apiece. Emilee Manues pitched in one.
In seventh grade action, Riverside took a 27-15 win over Gosnell. Emily Jordan led the Lady Rebels with 11 points. Lindsey Bennett had seven, Jordan Miller tallied four, Kenzley Wilson netted three while Ashton Raney added two points.
Riverside will return to action Thursday night when they travel to Nettleton. The junior Lady Rebels will participate in the Bay Invitational Tournament beginning Monday night at Bay.
