Riverside Rebels Basketball Roundup

Riverside made it a clean sweep in senior high boys basketball action last week with a 57-50 come from behind victory over Manila Friday night at Caraway. The Rebels began the week with a 71-57 win at Weiner Tuesday night.

Senior Tyler Warhurst drained four three pointers in scoring 19 points to lead the Rebels past Manila. Jake Love and Cody O'Guinn also hit double figures for the Rebels, scoring 13 and 10 points respectively. Josh Anderson had seven points, Blake Hogan scored four while Cameron Casey and Dewayne Schrader added two points apiece. The Rebels finished 11-14 from the foul line and nailed six treys on the evening.

Sophomore Garrett Scott led Manila with 18 points while Tracey Reinhart scored nine.

J.J. Helton and Jared Burks added eight points apiece, Kyle Evans netted six points while Nathan Bell chipped in one point for the Lions. Manila made 3-5 free throws and drained seven treys.

Manila held a 16-10 first period advantage and stretched their lead to 32-18 at the half. Riverside came up with a big third quarter, outscoring the Lions 21-6 to grab a 39-38 edge heading into the final frame.

In junior high action, Riverside remained undefeated with a 43-33 victory over Manila. Cole Winford and Logan Meurer paced the Rebels with 12 and 11 points respectively. Morgan Fletcher tallied eight, Alteeno Sain added four while Cody Williams, Mitchell Staggs, Braden Peaster and Chase Jackson added two points apiece. The Rebels hit 7-16 from the foul line.

Riverside jumped to an 11-1 lead after the first quarter and held an 18-11 advantage at the half. The Rebels put the game away in the third period and took a 39-17 lead into the final frame.

Dillon Burrow led the junior Lions with nine points while Dylan Bogle added seven. Korey Cain scored four while Zack Day, Jordan Moore and Zach Reinhart added three points each. Chris Armstrong tallied two points while Trey Walker and Blake Miller added one point apiece. Manila connected on 4-13 from the foul line and made three treys.

In Riverside's victory over Weiner, Jake Love poured in five three pointers in scoring 25 points to lead the Rebels over the Cardinals. Blake Hogan also hit double digits with 13 points. Cody O'Guinn netted seven, Tyler Warhurst tallied six, Cameron Casey and Jake Emery scored three points apiece while Dewayne Schrader added two. The Rebels hit

7-12 free throws and drilled eight three pointers on the night.

Riverside and Weiner were tied 17-17 after the first quarter before Weiner took a 35-34 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Rebels rallied in the third quarter to take a 50-39 advantage into the final frame.

Jacob Brumley led Weiner with 18 points while Dalton McIllwain added 16 more for the Cardinals, who hit 15-20 free throws and made four three pointers on the evening.

The Rebels took the junior high contest over Weiner, 55-32. Cole Winford poured in a game high 20 points to lead Riverside while Morgan Fletcher added 12 more. Cody Williams and Logan Meurer added six points apiece while Braden Peaster netted four. Mitchell Staggs tallied three while Alteeno Sain and Jake Spencer pitched in two points apiece.

Riverside led 14-6 after one period and 35-13 at the half. The Rebels took a 44-25 lead into the fourth quarter.

Riverside will return to action Tuesday when they host Ridgefield Christian at Caraway. The Rebels will play host to Bay Friday night at Lake City.

Manila will host Corning Tuesday night before traveling to Hoxie for Friday night's contest.
