Stephanie Bagwell scored 20 points, including an 11-11 performance from the free throw line, as the Lady Zebras knocked off Buffalo Island Central 67-54 Thursday night at Black Rock.

Ashley Stalling pitched in 14 points for the Lady Zebras. Black Rock went to the free throw line 41 times, connecting on 28.

Black Rock bolted to a 16-1 first period lead and took a 35-19 advantage into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Mustangs battled back in the third quarter to cut the lead to 44-35.

Jordan Miller led all scorers, pumping in 21 points for BIC. Holly Dempsey also hit double digits, scoring 10 points. Jenna Pike tallied seven, Corie Flannigan scored five, Whitlee Rolland pitched in four, Jamie Harris netted three while Shelby Qualls added two points for the Lady Mustangs. BIC hit 9-20 free throw attempts and made two three pointers on the night.

The loss dropped the Lady Mustangs to 1-2 on the year.

In junior high action, BIC romped to a 40-8 victory over Black Rock. The Lady Mustangs ripped off a 17-0 lead after the first period and held a 25-3 advantage at the half. BIC went into the fourth period with a 34-5 lead.

BIC placed 12 players in the scoring column. Demi Hargrove led BIC with nine points while Hayley Parker scored six. Brittany Fowler, Kaylee Greathouse, and Cassidy Qualls netted four points apiece while Jodiee Clay, Shania Junyor, Emily Owens, Rachel Goldammer, Katelyn Sparkman, and Brittany Stockton tossed in two points apiece. Amber Rolland added one point to round out the Lady Mustang scoring.

BIC finished just 4-17 from the foul line.

Christian Erwin led Black Rock with five points. The Lady Zebras were 2-6 from the foul line.

In junior boys action, Bay slipped past BIC 50-41 despite a 25 point performance from Daniel Davis.

The Mustangs took a 13-11 lead after the first period before Bay pulled ahead 21-20 at the half. The Yellowjackets increased their lead to 35-27 entering the final period.

The Yellowjackets placed three players in double figures led by Dylan Loven who scored 18. Damien Holt and Tristan Shelly added 11 points apiece. The Yellowjackets finished the night 8-13 from the foul stripe and drilled four three pointers.

Dillon Hargrove scored nine points, Josh McCormick netted three while Wes Colbert added two to round out the Mustang offensive output. BIC hit 4-10 free throws and made one three pointer on the night.
