Jessie Geraldine "Toots" Markin, 83, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Monette to the late William and Sarah Loftin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Monette Assembly of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Wava Lou DeFries of Paragould and Linda Joyce Markin of Cave City; a brother, Ralph Loftin of Cardwell; three grandchildren, Leasa Graddy, John Dean DeFries and Michael Shawn Markin; three great-grandchildren, Chris DeFries, Duran DeFries and Shane Grady.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charley D. Markin; a brother, Wayne Loften; and two sisters, Edith Stephson and Lorene Peel.
A celebration of her life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Burial was at the Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Andy Peel, Stormy Peel, Daniel Loftin, Joe Dan Loftin, John Dean DeFries, Chris DeFries, Duran DeFries and Brian Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers were Ladies Sunday School Class.
