Irene Perry Bowers

Irene Perry Bowers, 95, of Blytheville, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Dell, the daughter of the late J.W. and Maggie Perry, she was a lifelong area resident, member of Little River Baptist Church, and member of the Eastern Star. She graduated from the Dell Public School System where she was a star basketball player. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a member of the Dell Ladies Quilting Circle. She learned how to drive at 65 years of age.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene H. Bowers, and a sister, Rosa Sizemore.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy L. Bailey, and her husband, Cecil, of Blytheville; her grandchildren, Gregory S. Bailey of Jonesboro, and Cynthia S. McCustion and her husband, Marcus, of Blytheville; and a great-grandchild, Kathryn Bailee McCustion.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Interment followed in the Dogwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
