Bigg Butts BBQ welcomed with ribbon cutting
Bigg Butts BBQ in Leachville was welcomed to the community with a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday evening.
The new restaurant opened in March. It is located on Highway 119, north of Leachville, next door to the Dollar General store.
Owners Rodney and Mari Robertson are very pleased with the response they have had from Leachville and the surrounding area.
"This was Rodney's idea," Mrs. Robertson said. "It is a family business and even our children, Brannah and Forrest, are helping us. We have been learning as we go and we are settling in and everything has gone on schedule. Our employees have been great."
Kitchen manager is Barbara Tate, cooks are Linda Huddleston, William Adams, Deana Espanez and Anna Rangel, and kitchen workers are Sharon Wilson and John Thrasher. Waitress are Brannah Barrett, Ashley Tate, Tiffany Parker, Morgan Edwards, and Charity Huddleston, along with Forrest Robertson. Cindy Lancaster is the night manager.
The grand opening was held on Friday and Saturday May 16-17 with drawings, coloring contests, costume contests, and more.
Several city, county, and state officials and judges were guests for the ribbon cutting ceremony with Leachville Mayor Shelia Spurlock cutting the ribbon. Among the Wednesday night guests were Manila Mayor Clifford Veach, Mississippi County Sheriff LeRoy Meadows, Circuit Judge Randy Philhours, District Judge Dan Stidham, District Prosecuting Attorney Fred Thorne, Arkansas Chief Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court Jim Hannah, Supreme Court Justices Donnie Corbin, Paul Danielson and Jim Gunter, Circuit Judges David Burnett, Ralph Wilson, David Laser, Lee Fergus, Cindy Thyer, Shannon Langston and Barbara Halsey, and Prosecuting Attorney and newly elected Circuit Judge Brent Davis. Also joining in the ribbon cutting was Kelly Harrell representing Heritage Bank, along with other guests.
Bigg Butts is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. They offer a variety of menu items and a Thursday night barbecue buffet with chopped pork, pork steak, barbecue chicken and pork chops with a variety of side dishes. Bigg Butts has Friday and Saturday seafood buffet from 5-8:30 p.m. with fish, shrimp, frog legs, and many more items.
They also offer a Sunday country cooking buffet from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday afternoon and are also open Sunday nights after church.
"We are looking forward to serving the community," Mr. Robertson said. "We appreciate all of our customers and want them to leave full, happy and ready to come back."
