Dorothy Irene Eldridge Sweet, 92, of Osceola, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Osceola Health Care Center. Born at Williford, she was the daughter of the late Ridley and Jessie Hill Eldridge and had lived most of her life in Mississippi County. She was a retired bookkeeper, the widow of Raymond Sweet, and a longtime member of Brinkley Chapel Baptist Church near Osceola.
She is survived by three daughters, Joy McKenzie of Texarkana, Texas, Ramona Davis of Douglasville, Ga., and Marilyn Davis of Osceola; a sister, Mazine Markin of Germantown, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
