George W. Cagle, 76, of Paragould, formerly of Leachville, died Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was a farmer and a member of the Boynton Church of Christ where he also served as deacon. He served on the Leachville High School Board for 20 years and held the positions of secretary, vice president and president during that time. He served four years on the Arkansas Activities Association's Executive Committee. He officiated basketball games for over 30 years and was inducted into the Arkansas Officials Association's Hall of Fame.

He is survived by two sons, and daughters-in-law, Roger and Star of Paragould and Rudi and Deanna of Leachville; a daughter and son-in-law, Renell and Barry Beach of Leachville; three brothers, Cecil Cagle of Blytheville, Joe Cagle of Leachville, and Edmund Cagle of Alabama; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Earl and Nancy Layton Cagle; four sisters, Opal Meadows, Leona Young, Dorothy Cagle and Mabel Cagle; and three brothers, Alfred Cagle, Claud Cagle and Henry Cagle.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Heath Colonial Chapel with Reverend Eddie Harris officiating. Burial was at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
