Caraway Relay for Life fundraising event set
Mikey Sullivan, 18 year old senior at Riverside High School who has Anaplastic Astrocytoma Grade III brain cancer, is Caraway's honorary survivor for the Buffalo Island American Cancer Relay for Life this year.
There will be a car wash, bake sale and pie throwing contest to raise money for the event. The festivities will be held at the Caraway Fire Department starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 7. The car wash and bake sale will be for donations. The pie throwing will cost $1 per throw and participants will throw at their choice of Caraway Police officers, Caraway Mayor Barry Riley or Craighead County Police officer Chris Kelems.
All proceeds and donations will go under Mikey's team name, Mikey's Tumor Troopers, and will be given to the American Cancer Society at the annual Relay for Life event.
The Buffalo Island Relay for Life is scheduled for June 27 at the Leachville City Park. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Mikey will be joining other honorary survivors in leading the first lap of the relay.
