A special ribbon cutting ceremony was held to welcome Jan's Deals, the newest business addition to the City of Monette.

Janet and Tim Gipson, of Manila, are the new business owners and have opened their new discount store on Drew Avenue, southeast of the stoplight.

"Our store will carry new and returned retail discount items, which we receive by the truck loads from national stores like J.C. Penney, Big Lots, Sears, and even Wal-Mart," Jan Gipson said. "We want to carry a wide variety of items that people can use everyday. We have clothing, school supplies, beauty supplies, and housewares."

"Many people have told us how they have to drive to other towns or to Jonesboro to get some of these things, and how they need a place in town to shop," she said. "We are fulfilling people's dreams of not having to go out of town to purchase basic items. Our prices are comparable or lower than any place around, plus they are new and of good quality."

The City of Monette and the City Beautification Committee held a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of the new business, on Thursday, April 30. Mayor Chub Qualls presented the Gipsons with a framed certificate.

"We want to welcome Jan's Deals to the Monette business community," Qualls said. "Thank you for making an investment in the future of the city of Monette by becoming a business partner in progress."

City officials, Beautification Committee members, business owners, friends and family were on hand for the ribbon cutting.
