Helen Starnes, 84, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born June 26, 1923, at Center, Miss., to the late Edward and Maggie Johnson.

Mrs. Starnes was a homemaker and member of Caraway First Baptist Church. She lived at Caraway most of her life.

Survivors include her son and his wife, John and Kathy Starnes of Caraway; a brother, Edwin Johnson of Tallahatchie, Miss.; three granddaughters, Shawna Starnes, Tysha Starnes and Kyla Starnes; and a great-grandson, Wesley Tompkins.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Arvel Starnes; and a brother, Floyd Johnson.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday in Caraway First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial was in Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Pallbearers were Gary Smith, Larry Dunkerson, Dan Dunkerson, Terry Couch, Bob Barker and Bill Riley.
