Margaret Claudine Caery, 76, of 200 Lake Street, Manila, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at her home.
Born in Manila on Sept. 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Cora Miller Griffin. She was a graduate of the Manila High School Class of 1950. During her teenage years she was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist for many years. She was a longtime resident of St. Louis, Mo.
After her first husband's death, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Caery. After living in Searcy for several years, they returned to their hometown of Manila in 1998 and became members of the First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Don Franklin Eubanks, she was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Griffin.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Caery, of the home; three daughters, Deborah A. Bowes of Nathrop, Col., Rebecca J. Lappin of Columbia, Mo., and Susan Elaine Croce and her husband, Tom, of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Justin Bowes, Caitlin Bowes, Nathan Lappin, Nichola Lappin, Katie Lappin, Kara Lappin, Michael Croce, Michelle Searcy and her husband, Brad; two step-sons, Jon Caery and his wife, Victoria, of Clarksville and Kent Caery of Texarkana; three step-grandchildren, Kirk Caery, Grace Caery and Aley Caery; and one step-great-granddaughter, Zoey Caery.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Ferrel Duffel and Dr. Guy Whitney, Jr., officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were John Ed Griffin, Derrick Griffin, Danny Robbins, Nathan Lappin, Michael Croce and E.W. Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Manila Class of 1950.
The family has requested anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the First Baptist Church in Manila.
