Manila banged out 14 hits and went on to a 10-0 whitewash of Marmaduke in 3A-3 softball action Thursday afternoon at Manila.
Sophomore Kimberly Wise fired a three hit shut-out while striking out eight batters and also helped lead the Lady Lions at the plate, going 3-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run homer. Wise also stole three bases and scored three times. Fellow sophomores Katie Donner and Jonna Dodd also hammered out three hits apiece. Donner drove in a pair of runs including a solo homer while Dodd stole three bases and drove in a run.
Brooke Hill had a pair of RBI singles while junior Colleen Kemp added a pair of singles and drove in a run. Leigha Woody and Kristen Painter both added RBI singles while Chantel Hames drove in a run.
Manila (1-2, 1-0) got three runs in the first inning, including Wise's two-run homer. The Lady Lions added two more runs in the second and scored five times in the bottom of the third.
Manila will return to action Monday when they play host to Trumann. The Lady Lions will travel to Harrisburg Thursday afternoon for a 4:00 conference match-up.
