Monette

Betty s. Cole, 73 of Monette, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born at Jonesboro on Dec. 29, 1934. She was a member of Monette United Methodist church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and on the board of directors of the Monette Housing Authority. She was a retired federal employee who worked for the Department of Defense.

Survivors include her five daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Miller and husband, Gary, of Jacksonville, Fla., Evelyn "Ebbie" Miller of Gautier, Miss., Janette Jones and husband, William, of Middlesboro, Ky., Laura Futch and husband, Dana, of Valdosta, Ga., and Olivia Cole; her mother, Edith LaFarlette of Monette; four grandchildren, Shannon Jones, Christina Jones, Sarah Hoover and Chris Miler; two great-grandchildren, Austin Jones and Colton Jones; a sister, Evelyn Coker of Memphis; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lamar Cole; her father, Lloyd LaFarlette; and two brothers, Sherman LaFarlette and Jimmy LaFarlette.

A celebration of her life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Monette United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial was in Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Dana Futch, Gary Miller, Mike Johnson, William Jones, Barry LaFarlette and Sonny Wimberley.
